Ask a Mortician- Exploding Caskets

This random screenshot from the new Ask a Mortician episode tells me I look like the creepy obsessive girlfriend from THIS video.  For the record, I’m totally fine with that.

Here’s the hot off the presses episode on the curious phenomenon of the exploding casket.

I generally lean toward cremation but there’s part of me that really, really wants to be buried in a coffin. Coffins are way cooler than caskets.

Caitlin, I have a question. The myth of eternal rest in the physical form is problematic, and all one has to do to see this is look at the large sums of bones and detritus necessarily discarded over the ages in catacombs; even with a focus on large bones only one obviously quickly runs out of room.  This leads me to my question (in a round about way, I suppose).  How do you think the forces facing the funeral industry are going to shape preferred methods for treating the bodily remains of the deceased in the future?  (Focus on the United States, if you like.)  Will space play a role?  If you had an amount of money to invest in burial futures now, what are the top five methods, barely heard of today, you’d choose to invest in?
